PODS stands for "Point of Destination Secured." What do our seniors need to secure in order to reach their point of destination? Their first point of destination is to graduate from high school and secure all high school graduation requirements (i.e., 21 credits, 60 Service Learning hours, High School & Beyond Plan, etc.) in order to graduate on time.  Their second point of destination is to go to a 2-4 year college/trade school and secure all college pre-requisites (complete FAFSA, 3-6 college applications, 3-6 scholarship apps, 13th year apps, etc.) in order to access a 2-4 year college/trade school/career of their choice.

The mission is to engage ALL seniors in face-to-face interaction every Thursday during Advisory (from 1:45 to 2:20 PM), in hopes to build trusting relationships with their peers, the Counseling Department, and the community in a healthy, positive social/academic environment.  7-9 seniors are assigned to a POD and a mentor from the UW Dream Project.  The mentor is responsible to ensuring each senior completes all college pre-requisites to access their chosen college/trade school.  Our Counseling Department ensures that all seniors have consistent check, connects with us to track their progress with completing all graduation requirements, and provides resources and emotional support for those who are challenged.  We keep the seniors accountable at school and request that our parents keep them accountable at home.  It is our Tag Team challenge for our parents to partner with us in providing a positive support system for their children.
