    Dear Class of 2020:

Thank you for providing your feedback on different possible options for our 2020 graduation ceremony. In response to the Governor’s phased re-opening plan and graduation guidance from OSPI, the state’s education agency, we will be hosting a virtual graduation ceremony.

I know that this is very disappointing to many of you. We are disappointed too and want to make sure you know how much we care about you and that we will work to make sure you feel honored during this important moment.  We are also exploring other ways to come together, if not in the near future, including a class reunion later in 2020-2021.

Rainier Beach High School will be hosting a virtual ceremony on Tuesday, June 16, 7 - 8:15 PM.

In preparation for the ceremony, we need you to submit a photograph for the virtual event. Please upload your photo NO LATER than June 1 at 10 a.m. to be included in the ceremony.  Our graduation will be broadcast on Cable T.V. and premiere on YouTube during our scheduled date and time.

    Photo Expectations:

    • Your Photo Collage must include:
      • YOUR NAME ON YOUR COLLAGE & PHOTOS
      • Picture of you in your white Cap and Gown
      • Your Name very clearly in text with a blue or orange background
    • Optional additions to your collage:
      • Your school appropriate Senior Quote
      • Your special thank you or shout out
      • Your future plans or photo in college gear

If you missed our cap and gown distribution, contact Ms. Thomas via REMIND for an immediate response or via email at althomas1@seattleschools.org for information on how you can still get your items.

    • PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR COLLAGE & PHOTOS
    • Your photo collage should be square just as shown on the printed directions you received when you picked up your cap and gown.
    • Make sure to take your photo in great lighting - consider going outside or standing with light from a window shining on you.
    • Smile - you have a lot to be proud of!
    • Make sure that clothing, etc. is appropriate. Any photograph with imagery or behavior that doesn’t align with the values of our school or the district will be removed by school administration. Remember your parents, siblings, grandparents, extended family and all of Seattle will get to see this virtual ceremony.

Additional information and directions on how to upload your photo can be found in our school’s photo portal. Access the portal here:
