On Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, Rainier Beach High School community was honored to receive a visit from Reverend Jesse Jackson, an icon of the Civil Rights movement.

Rev. Jackson spoke at a packed assembly in our Performing Arts Center and inspired many in different ways. The civil rights hero graced us with words of hope and inspiration, and his story touched everyone in the room. 12th grader Shania said, "It made me look at things a different way". George Foster, our Athletics Director, was also touched and had this to say: "Things that we take for granted, like going into public libraries and drinking from water fountains, are things we really shouldn't take for granted." We are grateful to have been in Rev. Jesse Jackson's honorable presence and will carry his lessons with us in pride forever.

We thank RBHS Black Students Union, the Patu family, and Ms. Angie Thomas, our Activity Director, for making this unforgettable event possible.
