An Important Letter to Families of RBHS Seniors

    Dear Families of RB Seniors,

The school year is winding down and one of the most important milestones of your scholar’s academic career is just around the corner…Graduation for the Class of 2021!  As we move closer to June 14th, there is important information we need to share with you and your scholar before they walk across the stage:

    Academic Support for Seniors

We will be hosting OAR (Operation Academic Restoration) tutoring supports virtually on Wednesdays (4:30pm-6:30pm OAR Study Hall Sessions Link) and in-person (in room 120) on Thursdays until graduation.  If your scholar is receiving a D or E (<70%) in any of their 2nd Semester classes, they are not currently passing these classes. It is extremely important that they attend OAR and their teachers asynchronous time (afternoons) to work on assignments/tests to raise their grade to make sure they graduate.  Let’s get it done Seniors!

Is my Senior in danger of not graduating?

Our counselors have contacted all seniors who will not meet the graduation requirements before the ceremony and communicated with their families.  If you did not receive communication or you are not sure, please contact your scholar’s counselor ASAP.  Ms. Zhou at ayzhou@seattleschools.org (A-K) and Ms. Taamu at sptaamu@seattleschools.org (L-Z).

    Ceremony Participation

The graduation ceremony will be held on Monday, June 14th at 5:30 PM at Memorial Stadium. Each senior will receive 4 tickets to the ceremony. Please download the app or check the RB Instagram for updates on ticket distribution and rehearsal. Caps and gowns were distributed on May 12th and will be available again during rehearsal in June.  Please contact the Graduation Coordinator, Angie Thomas (althomas1@seattleschools.org), for more information.

The ceremony is a privilege and not a requirement for graduation. With that being said, we are asking our seniors to continue to engage in positive behaviors with their peers and the school community. We reserve the right to deny participation in the ceremony to any senior who engages in negative behaviors that do harm to other peers or members of our school community in alignment with District policy.
