ORCA Card Information for 2022-2023

Summary: Existing ORCA cards are valid though 2022-2023 school year, even if they are expired, but please register your card!

The district is no longer managing or distributing ORCA cards for students.

Student ORCA cards issued to Seattle Public Schools students in the 2021-22 school year will continue to work through 2022-23, even if there is an expiration date printed on the back. However, cards will need to be registered by June 30, 2023. Please register your ORCA card by June 30, 2023.

If your student does not have an ORCA card or lost their card, they can request a new card or get a replacement. Learn more on the district website or request your card at myorca.com (there are several language options to choose from at the top of the page). Metro will mail a new card to your home.

While students wait for their new cards, they may still ride Metro! Simply show your student ID to a Metro operator or Sound Transit Fare Ambassador (last year’s ID will work). If a student does not have a student ID, they may ride without one – students will NOT be denied ridership.

If you have questions or encounter any issues, please call the ORCA Regional Call Center at 1-888-988-6722 / TTY Relay: 771 / Non-English: 1-800-823-9230 during regular business hours: M-F from 8am-5pm (closed on weekends and holidays).

Visit the SPS ORCA Card page for district updates and read more about the Free Youth Transit Pass on the King County website.
