Remembering RBHS Alumnus D’Vonne Pickett, Jr.

We mourn and remember Rainier Beach High School alumnus, D’Vonne Pickett, Jr., who was tragically shot and killed outside of the business he owned, The Postman, on October 19.

D’Vonne was an amazing point guard that led the RBHS Basketball team to a state title in 2008 under Coach Mike Bethea. At the time of his tragic death, he was a loving brother, son, husband, father, entrepreneur, and community advocate.

After graduating from Rainier Beach High School, D’Vonne went on to Seattle University where he earned a degree in Communication Studies.

In 2018 D’Vonne and his wife KeAnna opened The Postman, which provides mailing and business services, as a way of honoring his late great-grandfather and serving the Central District community. In addition, D’Vonne was a coach of youth sports and a mentor to countless young people – a pillar and positive force in his community.

Please see this short film from Converge Media (in collaboration with Vanishing Seattle), The Postman, that highlights KeAnna and D’Vonne Pickett’s business and their contributions to the community.
