Service learning includes projects which meet academic, civic, character, or leadership learning goals through hands on, relevant, and relational service in collaboration with the community.
Below please find some places where you can earn your service hours. We also encourage you to contact any organizations or non-profits whose work resonates with you for volunteer opportunities.

Junior Naturalist Program @ UW Botanic Gardens
Junior Naturalist Program – UW Botanic Gardens
Junior Naturalists are teens volunteering with the Arboretum Summer Camp. This is a great volunteer opportunity for teens who are enthusiastic about working with kids, playing outside, and gaining leadership skills.
- Who: Teens aged 15 – 18
- When: This summer! Junior Naturalists serve at least one 2-week session between July and August.
- Where: Washington Park Arboretum OR Center for Urban Horticulture
This is a volunteer opportunity. Junior Naturalists may use this experience to meet Service Hours requirements. A reference letter is available at the successful completion of the two weeks.

TeenTix
Interested in volunteering at TeenTix? Stop by and hang out at TeenTix HQ (in Seattle, WA) for 2 – 3 hours and help us out! You might fill a variety of roles from making buttons, sending out passes, or signing new teens up for TeenTix. Volunteer opportunities are arranged on an individual basis.
Go Green Garden Club
Join the Go Green Garden Club at Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands. You can go to this park every Wednesday after school from 3-5 pm. Help with a new service project every week. See Ms. Goldman in room 250 for more information.
