January Newsletter from Principal Patu
Greetings, Viking Families,
Happy New Year! I hope you and your family are well. We are off to a great start for 2025! The end of the semester is around the corner and our scholars and staff have been working hard to meet our goal of zero course failures for every student for Semester 1. Our support staff have been working overtime to provide extra help during the school day and after school. We will be hosting Saturday School tomorrow, January 25th from 10am – 2pm to help students prepare for finals in the cafeteria. This month we celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King in a presentation by our BSU students and we will be celebrating Black History in the month of February. This year our entire school will be creating a walking museum of Black History and the legacies of those in our local community. Come check it out beginning February 12th!
Please know that your scholar’s safety and well being is my top priority. We are continuing to work with our entire community to provide a safety net in the building as well as our surrounding community. I count it a privilege to serve you and your scholar and please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Take care.
Blessings,
Principal Patu

Start on time and Show up to Learn Campaign
Starting January 6th, we are launching our Start on Time campaign to get our scholars to school on time. We average close to 250 tardies to school each day for various reasons. Our goal is to chop that in half by the end of March 2025. Help us help your scholar get to school on time and win prizes for the entire family. We will be pulling lists for all scholars who come on time each month and enter their name in a drawing to win prizes for your family. We are giving away SWAG, gift cards, etc.
Seniors – Make sure you order your senior’s cap and gown.
- Please contact National Achiever, 425-357-1338 if you have not ordered or go online: Order your senior cap and gown

RHBS Building Replacement Project
We are in great anticipation for our new building! Currently, April 11th will be our last day in the “old” building. We will be physically moving to the new building for Phase 3 during Spring Break and students will start in new building on April 21st. I will be sure to send you updates along the way. Read more here and watch live videos of the updates.
