Welcome 9th Graders!

August 2025
Welcome to the Viking family!
We are so excited that your scholar will be attending Rainier Beach High School for the 2025-26 school year! We look forward to meeting your scholar at our 9th Grade Orientation on Tuesday, September 2nd @ 8:30am. Our school participates in the Link Crew and Ignite Mentor programs, organizations whose sole purpose is to help 9th grade scholars feel more comfortable and achieve success in their first year of high school.
9th Grade Orientation Details
The Link Crew 9th grade orientation program is designed to welcome and support 9th graders by assigning them a junior or senior “Link Leader” as a mentor for the year. This Link Leader is a responsible older scholar who was hand selected from a large pool of applicants and has met the qualifications of being a good role model and a positive leader on our campus.
The following is information to tell you what you and your scholar can expect for orientation:
- Your scholar is encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses or other like items as the day is quite active.
- Because the day is active, please make sure that your child wears comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement.
This is a student-only event, so we encourage you to let your child attend on their own. If they need special accommodations, please let us know by emailing Ms. Carter at gecarter@seattleschools.org. Please feel free to attend the PARENT COFFEE HOUR that morning (9/2) in the Commons at 9:30am. Sweet treats will be provided! Interpreters provided for multilingual families!
