Hello! My name is Jennifer Kekuna and I am very excited to be joining such an amazing community!
I decided I wanted to pursue a career in education during my own middle school years. It was during this pre-teen time in my life where I began to find my own identity. I had amazing teachers that helped me on this journey, and I made a personal pledge to one day make a difference in the lives of some youth. I have had wonderful teaching experiences over the last few years, all of which have been in diverse environments.
I was born and raised in Hawai'i and later attended college at Gonzaga University in Spokane, where I earned my degree in Special Education. I went back home to begin my teaching career and taught most core subjects in either a resource or self-contained setting for six years. I then made my way back to Washington state, and I've been with Seattle Public Schools at Cleveland High STEM for the past eight years. While at Cleveland, I've had the opportunity to co-teach with many teachers and ensure successes for all students while learning in an inclusion environment.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children. We love being outdoors or watching movies. I also have a passion for dancing hula.
I believe that all students, regardless of their challenges, should have every opportunity to expand their knowledge and become successful. I am excited to begin my new journey with such an awesome school!
